En quoi cette nouvelle méthode française pour la flûte traversière est-elle différente d'une méthode allemande ? Elle s'en distingue principalement en faisant débuter l'apprentissage par la deuxième octave, comme c'est le cas généralement en France. Le flûtiste, compositeur et pédagogue Éric Ledeuil initie naturellement l'élève le plus tôt possible à un certain nombre de nouvelles techniques, qu'il illustre de manière ludique avec de courtes pièces et des exercices d'improvisation.

La méthode est divisée en 23 leçons, qui traitent chacune une question spécifique, surlignée en bleu, qu'il s'agisse d'un problème de doigté, d'articulation ou de notation, etc. Tout au long de l'ouvrage on trouve encore un certain nombre d'ateliers de travaux pratiques, ainsi que de courtes digressions sur l'histoire de la musique. Les petites pièces pédagogiques de la méthode ont été pour la plupart composées par Éric Ledeuil lui-même. Un grand nombre d'entre elles sont écrites pour deux ou trois voix (pour un élève débutant, un élève confirmé et le professeur), et certaines ont aussi un accompagnement au clavier. Cette édition a le défaut de ne proposer ces accompagnements que dans la méthode. N'aurait-on pas pu extraire une partie séparée et inclure ce fichier dans le CD ? Autre défaut, la tablature à la fin de l'ouvrage est imprimée trop petit et est difficile à lire. En outre, l'ouvrage s'adresse aux enfants, comme le montrent les photos du début, mais celles-ci ne correspondent pas toutes au modèle à suivre, notamment en ce qui concerne la position des doigts ou la posture des élèves.

Dans cette méthode, Éric Ledeuil a adopté une démarche pédagogique innovante dont l'école française avait besoin. Cependant, cette édition est destinée au marché européen et international : en conséquence, les nombreuses traductions nuisent à la lisibilité du texte et prennent bien trop de place dans l'ouvrage, qui aurait pu bénéficier d'un plus grand choix de morceaux et d'exercices.

What makes this new French flute method different from a German one? The main difference is that it starts in the second octave, the way it is generally done for beginners in France. Flutist, composer and teacher Éric Ledeuil naturally introduces the student as early as possible to a certain number of new techniques, which he illustrates in an entertaining way with short pieces and improvisation exercises.

The method is divided into twenty-three lessons; each lesson presents a new problem, either a question of articulation, or of notation or new fingerings, etc., highlighted in blue. Throughout the work we also find workshops, which focus mainly on an exercise, and often end with a short note on music history. The small pedagogical pieces in the method were for the most part composed by Éric Ledeuil himself. Many are written for two or three voices (for a beginner, an experienced student and the teacher), and some also feature a keyboard accompaniment. Unfortunately, this edition proposes these accompaniments only in the method itself. Wouldn't it have been possible to add them as a separate file included on the CD? In addition, the tablature at the end of the work is printed too small and is difficult to read. This work is intended for children, as is made clear by the photos at the beginning. However, not all of these photos depict the standard techniques, particularly when it comes to the position of the students' fingers or of their posture.

In this method Éric Ledeuil uses an innovative pedagogical approach, one that the French school particularly needed. It should be noted that this edition is designed for the European and international market; as a result, the numerous translations make the texts less legible and take up too much space in the work, which would have benefited from a larger selection of pieces and exercises.

Was ist anders an dieser französischen Schule im Vergleich zu einer deutschen Schule für die Querflöte? Sie bezieht von Anfang an die zweite Oktave mit ein, was generell der Ansatzpunkt in französischen Lehrwerken ist. Ledeuil, Flötist, Komponist und Pädagoge, steuert frühestmöglich wie selbstverständlich auf einige neue Techniken zu, die er spielerisch unter anderem durch Improvisationsaufgaben verpackt.

Die Schule ist in 23 Kapitel unterteilt. Jedes Kapitel führt ein neues „Problem“ ein, wie neue Griffe, Artikulationen, Vorzeichen et cetera, das extra blau markiert ist. Dazwischen eingestreut ist immer mal wieder ein „Atelier“ (Werkstatt), das sich einer besonderen Aufgabe widmet sowie ein kurzer Exkurs in die Musikgeschichte. Die kleinen pädagogischen Spielstücke stammen größtenteils aus eigener Feder. Viele sind für zwei bis drei Spieler (Schüler, fortgeschrittener Schüler, Lehrer), einige mit Klavier. Dem Verlag ist der „Fehler“ unterlaufen, die Klavierstimme nur in dem Buch abzudrucken. Hat sich eine Extrastimme nicht gelohnt? Warum nicht als Zusatztrack auf der beigefügten CD? Die Grifftabelle am Ende ist in der Grafik zu klein gedruckt und unübersichtlich.

Ledeuil verfolgt einen innovativen pädagogischen Ansatz, der besonders in Frankreich gut tut. Seine Zielgruppe sind Kinder, wie die Fotos am Anfang zeigen. Diese sind nicht alle dem pädagogischen Vorbild entsprechend: zum Beispiel die durchgedrückten Finger, Fußstellung. Der Verlag wiederum setzt auf internationale, europäische Vermarktung. Die teils ausführlichen Texte nehmen mit den Übersetzungen viel zu viel Raum ein. Das geht zu Lasten der Übersichtlichkeit und einer größeren Vielfalt musikalischer Spielstücke.
